About

We stand up for rural areas

Rural development improves the living conditions in rural areas. It strengthening villages, landscapes and regions, promoting nature conservation as well as sustainably agriculture and forestry.

Therefore, the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) is the main funding instrument. In Germany, the EAFRD is implemented through 13 country programmes. Each of these programme has a different focus. Because every country and region has different possibilities and potentials - and their own ideas. So it is important to communicate and learn from each other.

EAFRD regulation requires that a National Network for Rural Areas be set up in every country of the European Union. In Germany, DVS is the hub for all partners in Germany.

What we do

  • We bring important topics to the discussion and create transparency about EAFRD funding opportunities.
  • We link different actors.
  • We support local action groups (LEADER) and operational groups (EIP-Agri) in their work.
  • We host events and training courses.
  • We collect good projects and provide information about them.
  • We keep an eye out for new developments and work on various committees.
  • We also disseminate information on the issues of rural development through our media.

Our network

We support representatives of municipalities, administrations and associations, but also entrepreneurs, private individuals, local action groups from the LEADER focus, operational groups of the European innovation partnership EIP-Agri and other people who are active in rural development. Together they form the network of rural areas.
