Load-bearing straw bale construction for agricultural and residential buildings
The advantage of load-bearing straw bale constructions lies in the very simple wall construction. The straw blocks are installed in a time-saving and reusable manner without joint mortar. They can be plastered on one or both sides and then fulfill all the properties of an exterior wall without a complex wooden construction. The aim of the planned cooperation project is to develop static-constructive and building physics principles for the design and verification of straw bale masonry. It is essential to classify the load-bearing straw bales in terms of their structural properties. The starting point should be preconditioned straw bales to which defined strength and deformation parameters can be assigned.
Results and the Final report will be found here, as soon as the project is completed.
As part of the project applied for, the long-term aim is to lay the foundations for normative regulations to be developed and a general technical approval or type approval. In the short term, the desired results can significantly simplify approval in individual cases and thus significantly promote the market potential of load-bearing straw bale construction.
