Development of an resource efficient cultivation method for the production of organic fresh-cut salads
A new innovative method, which will conserve the utilisation of resources and decreases labour costs for the production of organic fresh-cut salads, will be tested against the current method for salad production. The newly developed cultivation method will be evaluated in practical use, improves, discussed with farmers and presented to a broader public. Ecological (ecobalance) and economical performance of the innovative method will be assessed.
The goal of this projecrt is to expand product range and to anable farmers to produce salads with less labor input. In case of successful development and positive assessment result, the new method gives an added agricultural value to organic farms and increases the regional production of organic products.
In a first step the method will be tested in EIP OPG farms. Later on, we expect the distribution of the new methods to further farms. Existing structures can be used for the manufacturing of the salads as well as the marketing.
