Development of a modular plant protection strategy based on different sustainable, non-chemical methods to control the sea buckthorn fly (MoPlaSa)
In the federal State of Brandenburg, cultivation of sea buckthorn Hippophae rhamnoides is increasingly threatened by the fruit fly Rhagoletis batava. Fruit damage and yield losses can be up to 80%, thus the cultivation is endangered. The aim of MoPlaSa is to develop a modular plant protection strategy which is individually adaptable by sea buckthorn growers. Different modules like traps, mechanical soil cultivation, barriers, macro- and microorganisms and the susceptibility of varieties will be regarded and tested separately as well as in effective combinations. MoPlaSa will provide ready to use practical recommendations. The operational group consists of 8 partners, Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (lead partner), Gut Schmerwitz GmbH, Havelfrucht Werder GmbH, Forst Schneebecke, Humboldt Universität Berlin, agrathaer GmbH, e-nema GmbH and Internationale Geotextil GmbH. Associated partners are Biohof Glindow, Pflanzenschutzdienst Brandenburg, Landesforschungsanstalt Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Sanddornverein e. V.
Results and the Final report will be found here, as soon as the project is completed.
