Reduction of C02 emissions in rBilk production in Baden-Württemberg
The aim of the projecf isthe application, evaluation and Interpretation of the results of
a C02 balance of 700 participating dairy farms. Building on this, opportunities for
improvement are shown and farmers are supported in reducing their GHG emissions
through active advice.
With an existing System for recording C02 emissions according to the BEK Standard,
700 dairy farms from Baden-Württemberg (milk suppiiers to OMIRA Oberland
Miichverwertung GmbH) are assessed annually. The savings potentiais are identified
together with the farmers and implemented in practice. The advisory activity is carried
out by OMIRA Milchunion Süd GmbH. An elementary part of the process is the
support provided by the Baden-Württemberg milk testing ring.
An external auditing Standard will be developed and implemented together. This
auditing can take place directly as part of the QM milk audits that have already taken
place.
Results and the Final report will be found here, as soon as the project is completed.
It is expected that significant GHG5 emission saving Potentials will be identified. These should be
exhausted in the course of the project by advising farmers, supporting the implementation of reduction
measures and audits that are repeated annually. The project will'reduce GHG emissions on around
700 dairy farms in Baden-Württemberg. The final findings are processed and scientifrcaUy published
by the HSWT. In addition, an aud(ting process will be implemented at the Milchprüfring
Baden-Württemberg as a result, accprding to which milk producers from other dairies can also be
audited. )
According to this, the practical benefit is to be assessed as very high, since the preparations for a
nationwide implementation and implementation of GHG balances as well as advice and auditing of the
farmers can be created in this way.
