Project Title

Deep Farming - Innovative tools of precision agriculture in on-farm trials

Project description

The demands on land management are constantly growing, so it is necessary to increase fertiliser efficiency. To achieve this, the entire crop management process, from sowing to harvesting, should be tailored to the potential of the soil. Precision farming (PL) tools are ideally suited for this purpose, but the comprehensive introduction of PL technologies in practice has so far failed to materialise for various reasons. The aim of this project is to develop a cultivation method that combines existing and new PL technologies and to test its sustainability, cost-effectiveness and manageability. At three different locations, the entire crop management is adapted to the yield potential of the location with the help of the SoilOptix soil scanner from Geo-Konzept and the harvest quantity and quality are analysed using NIRS sensors, among other things. The results are then used to create nutrient and application maps and to develop needs-based services to support the optimised use of nitrogen fertilisers.
