Biological nutrient transfer through microalgae
The aim of the proposed project is to make nutrient potential from nutrient-loaded wastewater accessible to agricultural crop cultivation in a specific form. When growing, special microalgae extract specific nutrients from the wastewater that would otherwise be lost for further application or can only be used in an unfavorable mixture and consistency for crop cultivation.
The Bielefeld University and the Jülich Research Center carried out scientific preparatory work on this. The basic possibility of the proposed nutrient recovery by microalgae (e.g. nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium) from agricultural wastewater (liquid and solid manure, silage water / organic fertilizer) has been shown.
Results and the Final report will be found here, as soon as the project is completed.
