OG: ABIOTEC (Novel agrobiotechnological process approaches for the safe degradation of antibiotic agents in manure)
Transfer of novel agrobiotechnological process approaches for the safe degradation of antibiotic active ingredients in organic fertilizers and further development of an accompanying, practical, innovative measurement methodology for metabolites and transformation products
In the project of the Operational Group ABIOTEC II, based on ABIOTEC (I), the analytical methodology for the determination of antibiotic substances, in particular their metabolites and transformation products in manure, shall be further developed and validated. The focus is on the active ingredient groups β-lactams (readily degradable) and fluoroquinolones (hardly degradable). A safe decomposition of antibiotic substances by input and output measurements including the most important metabolites should be done with the advanced analytics. The continuation of the ecologically oriented project should serve for the development of innovative "low tech" and "low cost" approaches for the reduction of antibiotics in farmyard manure in the sense of their transfer to the large-scale pilot scale, and to provide an adequate reproducible and safe analysis.
Results and the Final report will be found here, as soon as the project is completed.
For the first time, an LC-MS method will be available, which allows reproducible measurements of metabolites or transformation products of antibiotic substances in the complex sample matrices 'organic fertilizer'. The results enable the further development of a first draft standard from ABIOTEC (I). The optimized procedural and practical approaches for the degradation of antibiotics in farmyard manure are being prepared for use in small and semi-industrial scale agricultural enterprises. This is intended to make a solution that can be used on farms for the degradation of antibiotically active substances ready for practical use. At the same time, a practicable test routine for hygienisation and resistance training is developed. The following procedural approaches are in focus: straw management, rotting process / composting, aerobic digestate treatment, soil treatment, lactic acid fermentation.
