Project Title

Preservation of the original, natural CBD content of the hemp plant for long-term storage by evaluation and optimization of various drying methods of

Project description

The aim of the project is the processing of three harvested hemp varieties Fédora, Férimon and Finola throughan established drying method for the preservation of CBD content and product quality. Under  preservation of the natural high active substances and ingredients, individually adapted process conditions for the three analysed hemp species will be evaluated. Optimal condition (quality assurance) for storage stabillty concerning CBD and quality will be determined for the investigated hemp varieties. The reproducibility of the drying efficiency will be repeatedly tested through the project duration of three years. In addition, annual fluctuations of the natural CBD content of the studied hemp varieties will be recorded.

The project shall contribute to  high-priced values of the harvested product. This could lead toa stabilization and diversification of bavarian farms through new sources of income and an increase of the cultivation of hemp.

Results focusing on practiceorientation

The project shall contribute to  high-priced values of the harvested product. This could lead toa stabilization and diversification of bavarian farms through new sources of income and an increase of the cultivation of hemp. During the EIP-Agri project, the factors of hemp cultivation that are important for agriculture were studied over a period of three years and an excellent production, drying and storage process was developed and optimised in order to preserve the natural CBD content of hemp. The cultivation of commercial hemp for the extraction of CBD is easy to integrate into the farm routine as well as into the crop rotation. More difficult to implement for the individual farmer is drying due to the cost-intensive equipment. In view of the purchasing costs, it is advisable to set up a machinery partnership. The choice of variety is important for the yield. The Futura 75 variety proved during the project to be the most CBD-productive. To keep hemp storable for a longer peri
