Project Title

Establishment of an exemplary on-farm nutrient cycle management system in a dairy cattle and biogas feed farm.

Project description

The use of a stationary slurry treatment plant, for which practical experience is available to a limited extent in other European countries, is to be investigated under the conditions of a larger Saxon dairy farm with connected biogas plant with regard to its economic, production-related and environmental effects. A biogas digestate treatment plant with an annual capacity of 63,000 t will be built and commissioned. The plant is to separate 54% of the input material as cleaned, prefloodable and/or infiltrationable water and process the remainder to high-quality organic fertilizer. This, separated into liquid and solid phases, will be stored at the plant's operational site and applied to the farm's agricultural land for fertilization.
